Starting the season on the bench and spending almost half a year there, Ignas Plūkas has become indispensable for the "Trakai" matches. Despite feeling more and more confident, the goalkeeper conceded two goals in the last matches against Vilnius "Žalgiris", but blaming the goalkeeper twice, at the very least, would be unreasonable.
"The situation is definitely not easy, but that's what I've been striving for, that's what I've been training for, to get my chance. I can't complain," the main "Trakai" goalkeeper began the conversation with a smile.
Ignas, remember that day when it was revealed that Marius was no longer on the team. What were the emotions like: positive or anxious?
Actually, there were many emotions. There was joy because I felt that there was a chance to play, but on the other hand, such news is never happy. I had to learn from Marius, and our relationship was really good.
Did the first matches cost a lot of nerves?
Quite a lot (smiling). Maybe I thought too much about how to replace Marius evenly, how not to make mistakes. But with every match, the excitement decreases. However, psychologically, the extension of the cup match with "Sūduva", where we completely collapsed and conceded four goals, was still tough.
How would you evaluate the changes in the team?
I don't have much to say. We are not the first and not the last team where players change.
Did the situation become more difficult when Albertas Rybakas became the head coach?
Of course, it became more difficult.
The match against "Kauno Žalgiris" is approaching. What are your thoughts on that?
From what I've talked to the team, it seems like we all understand that the battle will not be easy. Therefore, to achieve the goal, we will have to give it our all. And the goal, of course, is victory. Once this season we got burned by "Kauno Žalgiris", so we cannot relax for a single minute.
For which place are "Trakai" still fighting this year?
Let's call it - for the highest places. And what it will be, we will see after the season.
