24-year-old Spanish national team midfielder Isco does not blame the coaches for the little playing time he receives at Real Madrid and takes the blame upon himself.
Isco has been playing for Real Madrid for the fourth season, but the Spanish player has never been a regular starter in any season. Nevertheless, in three seasons he has played 149 matches and scored 22 goals.
This season Isco has only played five matches, but missed some of them due to injury. Over the weekend, the Spaniard was in the starting lineup, but his performance was not the best.
"I was a first choice only at Malaga club," Isco told the Marca newspaper. "In reality, I have played more matches in Madrid than people think - over 150. That's really a lot."
"Although I sit on the bench, I always have to be ready to come out and give my all. We are talking about a team full of the best footballers, so the competition here is huge. I might definitely get more playing time in another team.
Sometimes it's tough when you work hard in training and still don't get a chance. But that's my fault. I was not a starter under Ancelotti, Benitez, and now Zidane. So, there's no need to look for problems where they don't exist. I am responsible for it myself. I have to continue to improve," Isco concluded, whose contract with Real expires in 2018.
