One of the greatest Israeli players of all time, Yossi Benayoun, thanks the gods for successfully evading the grim reaper's scythe.

The 44-year-old Jew received an unpleasant shock in his homeland - a grenade was thrown at his front door.

After the deafening explosion, the attacker escaped the scene on a motorcycle.

Y. Benayoun and his family members were lucky - no one was injured.

As the former famous player later told the local media, he believes that the incident happened by mistake - the grenade was intended for another person.

In the past, Y. Benayoun played for Liverpool and Chelsea, with which he triumphed in the Europa League tournament in 2013.
