On Tuesday evening, the final stage of the 2018 World Cup qualification tournament ended in the Old Continent. After the matches, the final positions in the tournament table were clarified.
After this qualification, the national teams also found out their new divisions - Lithuania entered Division C, which also includes Hungary, Romania, Scotland, Slovenia, Greece, Serbia, Albania, Norway, Montenegro, Israel, Bulgaria, Finland, Cyprus, and Estonia.
Let's remind that after this qualification, a new tournament starts in Europe - the UEFA Nations League. These are completely new championships that will replace friendly matches of national teams. Four teams, one from each division, will win tickets to the 2020 European Championship.
Division C, which includes Lithuania, will be divided into four groups on January 24th of next year. The number of teams in this division is odd, so one of the four groups will have three teams, while the others, as usual, will have four teams.
The teams finishing bottom of their groups will drop to a lower division. The winners of the groups will have a direct ticket to the 2020 European Championship.
