Italian daily "Corriere dello Sport" claims that Madrid's "Real" may still change their mind before the end of the transfer window and make an offer for Inter Milan's striker Mauro Icardi.
The chief "white" strategist Zinedine Zidane has repeatedly stated at press conferences that Florentino Perez will not acquire new players, as he is satisfied with his squad.
However, "Real" is currently going through a real crisis this season, and the recent results of the matches have completely tested the patience of the club's fans. The mentioned source indicates that "Real" could unexpectedly make a last-minute move for M. Icardi to calm the fans' passions and finally show their face in attack.
Zidane would rather wait until summer, but the strategist's stubbornness could cost dearly, as M. Icardi could still sign a new contract with "Inter" and increase his release clause to 200 million euros in the summer.
Currently, the 24-year-old Argentine's contract includes a 110 million euro release clause. According to CdS, the "whites" are ready to pay this amount, and reaching an agreement with the player would not be a problem.
This season, M. Icardi has scored 18 goals in 20 Serie A matches in Italy.
