This year, the Italian national football team made a strong return to the ranks of the most powerful teams in the Old Continent. In the summer, Roberto Mancini's students became European champions, defeating England's eleven after 11 penalty kicks in the final. At the end of 2021, the Italian Football Federation invited fans to choose the country's player of the year, and after counting the results of the online voting on the website, it became clear that the winner's laurels went to Federico Chiesa, a representative of Turin's "Juventus". The young winger received a whopping 46% of the votes. Second place went to "Inter" defender Nicolo Barella (20%), and third place to "Roma" defender Leonardo Spinazzola (14%).
