On Tuesday, the semi-finals of the European Championship will start, and in the first match at the "Wembley" stadium, Italy and Spain teams will take to the field. Some of the most powerful national teams on the planet have faced each other multiple times, and uefa.com has selected six most memorable moments. The first clash between the teams took place in the 1934 World Cup, where the first match ended in a 1-1 draw in the quarter-finals, and the second match ended in a 1-0 victory for the Italians. The next match had to wait many years, until in the 1988 European Championship group stage, the "Azzurri" celebrated a 1-0 victory against the Spaniards after a goal by G. Vialli. In the quarter-finals of the 1994 World Cup, Mauro Tassotti infamously "elbowed" Luis Enrique in the face, but only later received an eight-match suspension. Dino Baggio and Jose Luis Caminero scored goals, and Roberto Baggio made the decisive strike - 2-1. In 2008 and 2012, it was time for the Spaniards' revenge. Firstly, in the quarter-finals of the European Championship, Luis Aragones' team defeated the opponents 4-2 after a penalty shootout, and four years later they struck even harder - they crushed their eternal rivals 4-0 in the final. The Italians got their revenge four years later, when in 2016 they triumphed 2-0 in the Euro Championship quarter-finals. The match was marked by Giorgio Chiellini, who still plays for the team, and Graziano Pelle, who was in the best form.
