Former "Barcelona" team president Josep Bartomeu denies allegations that he could have leaked details of Catalan team leader Lionel Messi's contract to the media. Earlier, "El Mundo" reported that the "La Liga" club will pay the Argentine a total of 555 million euros since 2017. The outraged player and the club itself decided to start looking for those responsible and turned to lawyers. "This is a very serious problem and it is completely illegal to leak details of professional contracts. I've heard that certain media channels explain that someone from the board or I leaked contract amounts. This is completely false information," said J. Bartomeu. "I don't know who did it. Only 4-5 people in the club have access to such information, but lawyers who participated in negotiations know it, as well as LFP representatives who have copies of players' contracts."
