"Barcelona" president officially confirmed that the club held talks with Paris Saint-Germain regarding the acquisition of Neymar.
Throughout the summer, "Barcelona" started taking more decisive measures with Neymar only at the end of the transfer window. The Catalans had two official meetings, but none of them were successful - PSG was not satisfied with "Barca's" offers.
"We did everything to bring Neymar back. We never offered any specific players to PSG. We talked about exchanges, but all names were proposed by PSG themselves," said Josep Bartomeu.
"In addition to exchanges, another offer was to borrow Neymar with an obligation to buy his contract at the end of the season.
"I know that other clubs also negotiated with PSG, but Neymar himself at some point demanded that PSG only negotiate with "Barca". His only wish was to return to Barcelona.
Neymar did what he had to do. He immediately informed PSG about his decision, did everything he could, but in the end, he remains in Paris for another year," detailed Bartomeu.
When asked if in January "Barcelona" could try to knock on Neymar and PSG's door again, the "Barcelona" president added: "He cannot join "Barca" in January, and the club's dressing room also has no say in that."
