J. Bartomeu: we will always have enough money to support the leaders

"Barcelona" president Josep Maria Bartomeu in an interview with the "Financial Times" said that the Catalan club will never run out of money needed to maintain the team's leaders.

"Every summer we receive numerous offers from English clubs to sell one player or another. I am not even talking about how tempted sixteen-year-old footballers are, who are often lured by opportunities to play in the Premier League. Yes, quite a few of them leave," - described the situation the head of the Catalan team.

However, according to J.M. Bartomeu, "Barcelona" will never run out of money to retain the players it needs, especially the team's leaders: "We will always find the financial resources to outweigh any offer from an English club for Lionel Messi, Neymar or Luis Suarez."

According to the Catalan club's president, "Barcelona" nurtures ambitious plans: to ensure that the team's revenues exceed one billion euros per year, but another task remains a priority.

"We want to make it so that the team's financial capabilities and well-being depend as little as possible on wins or losses on the pitch. In that case, the club could function successfully regardless of temporary failures in the stadiums," emphasized J.M. Bartomeu.

"Barcelona" president also revealed that the Catalan club plans to open commercial offices in New York, Sao Paulo, and Shanghai.

"Right now we only have an office in Hong Kong, but we plan to open three new ones by 2017. One thing must be clear: in stadiums, we compete against clubs owned by wealthy corporations or billionaires with almost unlimited financial resources. If we want to remain competitive, we must move forward. It is possible to talk endlessly about the desire to bring back the UNICEF logo on our jerseys, but that is a utopia," Bartomeu admitted.
