J. Čadženovičius: schedule over the last two weeks has been very tight © fk-panevezys.lt

The football club "Panevėžys" will conclude a very intense two-week period in the "TOPsport A lyga". In the 21st round, Stijn Vreven's squad will face Gargždai's "Banga" on opposite sides of the barricades.

In the 2024 season, the Gargždai team is one of the most challenging opponents for "Panevėžys". "Banga" won both of their previous matches: they won 1-0 away with a goal scored in the final moments, and 2-0 at home in the second leg.

In the league table, "Banga" is currently in 7th place with 23 points. In 19 matches coached by Davido Afonso, the players won 5 times, drew 8 times, and suffered 6 losses. Last Wednesday, Gargždai lost 0-2 to Vilnius' "Žalgiris", while Panevėžys won 3-1 against Marijampolė's "Sūduva".

If Panevėžys wins at home, a third consecutive victory would allow them to overtake "Banga" in the league standings. Before the weekend match, goalkeeper Jovanas Čadženovičius shared his thoughts on the fk-panevezys.lt website.

"During the match against 'Žalgiris' I felt a cramp in my leg, so I had to rest for a week and I am very happy to be back on the field before 'Sūduva' and help my team mates fight for all 3 points. Now I feel great, I am ready and motivated for Saturday's match against 'Banga'.

Yes, we lost twice this year against 'Banga'. I think we are slowly getting into form, we have won two matches in a row, so I hope we will continue this streak on Saturday. The schedule over the past two weeks has been very intense and, of course, there is some fatigue among the players, but we are fully focused and will aim for victory on Saturday. The recipe for success would be this: if each player gives their maximum on the field, then the result will definitely come," - said the footballer from Montenegro.

The 21st round match between "Panevėžys" and "Banga" will be played on Saturday, June 29. The match is set to kick off at 17:00 at the "Aukštaitija" stadium.
