Dark-skinned midfielder John Carew was chosen as the best player of the year in Norway. He surpassed "IK Start" defender Kristofer Haestad and "Blackburn" defender Morten Gamst Pedersen in the voting.

The 26-year-old strong striker representing "Lyon" is a regular starter for the Norwegian national team, and last week he contributed with two goals to Lyon's 4-1 victory against Piraeus' "Olympiacos" in the UEFA Champions League match.

Quite unexpectedly, the organizers did not include "Liverpool" representative John Arne Riise in the list.
