When wealthy US businessman Todd Boehly became the owner of Chelsea club, astronomical sums of money started to be spent in the transfer windows.

During the last winter transfer window, Enzo Fernandez (121 million euros), Mykhailo Mudryk (70 million euros) and many other players were brought in, with a total of over 300 million euros spent.

During the summer transfer window, players like Christopher Nkunku (60 million euros), Romeo Lavia (62.10 million euros), Moises Caicedo (116 million euros) were brought in, along with new coach Mauricio Pochettino.

The astronomical sums of money caught the attention of former footballer Jamie Carragher, who criticized Todd Boehly's actions:

"Expectations for Chelsea should be higher, considering their spending in the transfer market.

Not many people think about a team that spends so much money, Chelsea will enter the top four and it doesn't seem right to me, because these are unbelievable amounts of money."
