Television "Sky Sports" pundit Jamie Carragher says that Liverpool attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho needs to step up his game in matches against big teams away from home.
Liverpool face Arsenal in an away match tomorrow. Last season, the Gunners comfortably defeated the visitors at Anfield with a score of 4-1. Carragher believes that in these kinds of matches, Coutinho should start showcasing better performances.
"Coutinho is a great player who has maintained good form at the start of this season. He was Liverpool's best player last season, and this year he scored a fantastic winning goal against Stoke and was the best player on the field in the match against Bournemouth," Carragher said.
"The next step for him is probably to play great matches away from home against the big teams in the league."
"I think he performs well at home, especially against Manchester City, where he scored some great goals. He also scored a goal at Anfield against Arsenal last year, but I believe the next step for him is to replicate those performances away from home in crucial matches," Carragher added.
"Currently, he is Liverpool's best player and if the team wants to achieve good results away from home against big teams, the leaders need to play very well. If Liverpool wants a good result on Monday (against Arsenal), they need an excellent performance from Coutinho."
