J. Carragher threw a stone into M. Cuccurella's garden: "He didn't want to defend himself © PA

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella faced sharp criticism after losing to Manchester City.

Sky Sports analyst and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher accused the Spaniard of "not wanting to defend."

"In the second half I was not satisfied with his performance. If someone does not want to defend, then it is really bad. It seemed to me that he did not want to defend in one-on-one situations."

"When I see defenders constantly falling, and opponents constantly breaking through them, it seems to me that those defenders do not want to defend."

"Sometimes you think: 'I can reach the ball first,' but when that is your plan against every winger who ends up against you, it cannot be right."

Marc Cucurella joined Chelsea in the summer for 65.30 million and since then has played 16 matches, providing 2 assists.
