Former "Barcelona" president Joan Gaspart strongly reacted to the emerging reports allegedly that before crucial La Liga matches, Catalans are trying to bribe "Granada" football players and match officials.
A victory in this match would guarantee championship gold for Luis Enrique's team.
"The only thing that Madrid's 'Real' is doing is harming football. If I were a 'Granada' player, I would not be jokingly offended, because it would mean that I could be bought.
I believe in honesty in football. If, however, similar things were to come to light, undoubtedly, teams would need to face consequences," Gaspart said.
The football legend was also asked about the events at the end of the last century, when a scandal involving bribes shook the football world.
At that time, "Barcelona" allegedly paid 7 million euros to the "Tenerife" team when they defeated Madrid's "Real" on the last day of the season, securing the Catalans' triumph in La Liga.
"That is a lie. Everything that was promised was to invite 'Tenerife' to a friendly preseason tournament. Not a single euro was paid,"
