J. Grealishas: "I told the coach that I want to take the penalty kick" © PA

Yesterday in the final of the European Championship, the Italian national team triumphed after defeating the English national team in a penalty shootout after 11 penalty shots. That 11 penalty shootout raised many questions for both England's fans and football fans. Some were surprised that England's coach Gareth Southgate chose Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho to take penalty shots, and left the decisive fifth penalty shot to be taken by 19-year-old Bukayo Saka. None of these young football players scored penalties, while more experienced players like Raheem Sterling, Luke Shaw or Jack Grealish did not get a chance to take a shot. J. Grealish himself commented on his Twitter account: "I told (the coach) that I want to take it (the penalty shot)!!! The coach made a lot of right decisions throughout the tournament and he did so this time as well. I don't want people to say that I didn't want to take the penalty shot when I clearly did." Most likely, there will be talk about those 11 penalty shots and G. Southgate's decisions for some time, but the players clearly understand everything and do not hold any grudge against the coach.
