Josep Guardiola explained the reasons why he decided not to extend his contract and leave the Bayern Munich club after this season.
The 44-year-old strategist took over the reins of Bavaria in 2013, but it has recently become clear that Carlo Ancelotti will replace him after the season. As the Spaniard himself pointed out, the main reason for this is the desire to coach a club in the English Premier League.
"The reason why I did not extend the contract with Bayern is simple - I want to coach a Premier League club," said J. Guardiola.
"I have not decided yet on a new club. I am grateful to Bayern for the trust they have shown in me, but I want new challenges," added the legend of Barcelona, who began coaching in 2007.
It is almost certain that J. Guardiola will take over the helm of the Manchester City team, although the Spaniard's candidacy for the position of coach at London's Chelsea or Manchester United is also not ruled out.
