Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes, speaking to "Goal.com", emphasized that Paris Saint-Germain is not considered favorites in the pair with Real Madrid, even though the latter is currently in a huge crisis of form.
Next week, the UEFA Champions League will begin the quarterfinal stage, where the most anticipated match - Real against PSG - will take place.
Heynckes shared his insights and stated that the Madrid team likely made a mistake in the summer by allowing three very important players to leave, also acknowledging that they are currently facing difficulties, but emphasized that counting these teams out of the Champions League is simply not possible.
"I am not surprised that this team is facing serious difficulties in Spain at the moment. It is completely normal when you win the Champions League twice in a row and become the country's champions," said Heynckes.
"It is worth mentioning that Real lost three very important players in the summer - Morata, Pepe, and James. They wanted to save money on wages. In this way, these players were replaced in the team not by famous names, but by young Spanish players. There must be a balance of young and experienced players in the team, so that some are hungry and others are experienced.
Regardless of the situation they are in now, counting them out in the battle against PSG is definitely not possible. They have much more experience in this tournament than PSG. Much more! Therefore, I am convinced that they will win this match.
They still have a good team for this tournament. When we won the Champions League for the first time with Real in 1998, we also finished fourth in the Spanish league. From personal experience, I know that Real should never be underestimated," added the famous strategist.
