Jurgen Klinsmann surprised the German football community on Tuesday with his decision.
The 55-year-old strategist officially stepped down from the coaching position at "Hertha" in Berlin. He had been leading the team since the end of November.
This winter, "Hertha" showed ambitions and managed to bring in Krzysztof Piatek to the team. However, disappointed with the players' attitude, the strategist resigned from his duties.
"As a coach, I need trust, especially when fighting for survival. Unity, team dedication, and concentration are the main elements. If I don't see that in my team, I can't fulfill my potential as a coach," Klinsmann wrote in an official statement.
He spent 76 days in the "Hertha" team. During that time, the team played 10 matches, won three, drew as many, and conceded defeat four times.
Currently, "Hertha" is in 14th place and has a 7-point lead over the last-placed "Paderborn."
