"Liverpool" coach Jurgen Klopp is convinced that Virgil van Dijk has played a season like no other defender has ever had.
Last season, V. van Dijk was a true wall of the "Liverpool" team, helping to win the UEFA Champions League and make a serious push for the English Premier League title.
In J. Klopp's opinion, Lionel Messi would not have been left robbed if the "Ballon d'Or" award had gone to the Dutchman.
"I can't remember a more impressive season from a defender," Klopp said at a press conference after the "Ballon d'Or" ceremony.
"We played an incredible season, won the Champions League and collected 97 points in the league. We wouldn't have done all of that if the players hadn't squeezed the maximum out of themselves.
It's nice to remember what happened last season, but I have no doubt that the guys have forgotten all the awards and are focusing on new ones," the coach added.
