“Liverpool” team on Monday away suffered a 1:3 defeat against “Brentford”.
After the match, Liverpool's coach Jurgen Klopp did not hesitate to criticize the match referee, with the third goal by “Brentford” raising the most questions. In that episode, the German saw an obvious foul by Bryan Mbeumo.
“I don't understand how the third opponent's goal was allowed. When players run at such a speed, even minimal contact throws them off balance.
The referee did not see the foul, and VAR simply did not think it was a clear error. I can guarantee that if a foul had been whistled, VAR would certainly not change the decision in such a situation.
It was simply a foul. I cannot accept the third “Brentford” goal,” Klopp explained to Sky Sports.
The German was also not happy with how the opponents were allowed to play during set pieces.
“Last season our match here ended 3:3. I don't know if it's always possible to control how “Brentford” play.
Every opponent's corner kick is a huge threat, as they use a lot of physical contact. It's interesting that only one foul was called during set pieces and it was against us. It seems a bit funny to me.
During set pieces, “Brentford” does not shy away from holding or pushing.
Before the season, we were assured that referees would carefully monitor such situations, unfortunately, that is not the case. In my opinion, holding or pushing should never be tolerated,” added Klopp.
