“Liverpool” suffered a painful defeat to the London team “Tottenham” on Saturday, and the controversies surrounding the referees' work during those matches still persist.
In the first half, Luis Diaz scored a goal, but the “Liverpool” player's goal was not counted due to offside.
It later turned out that L. Diaz was in a legal position, and the disallowed goal was caused by improper communication between the referees on the field and the VAR room.
PGMOL (referees' association) announced on Tuesday a conversation that took place between the referees on the field and the VAR room. However, it seems that "Liverpool" coach Jurgen Klopp is not satisfied with just admitting the mistake and he would like the match to be replayed.
“Announcing the referees' conversation changes nothing. I am not interested in how that mistake was made.
It is very important that the situation is handled properly. I am not saying the referees made a mistake on purpose, but it is a very gross error.
As “Liverpool” coach, I think the fairest thing to do would be to replay the match. Of course, everyone will say that in such a case, other teams could demand the same. However, our situation is unprecedented and I doubt we will ever see something similar again.
I agree that making the decision to replay the match is very difficult. I think in that situation, the referee could have called both coaches and tried to find a solution. Perhaps, the opponents would have just let us score that goal that was wrongly disallowed,” Klopp explained at the press conference.
