"Liverpool" footballers achieved a dramatic victory in Sunday's match against London's "Tottenham" and maintained quite decent chances to win the English "Premier" league.
In this match, the "Reds" could even lose, but the uncertain Hugo Lloris's performance at the end of the match determined the home team's victory by a score of 2:1.
After the victory, "Liverpool" rose to the first position. "Manchester City" has played one game less, so they will have the opportunity this week to regain a point advantage.
Talking about the match, "Liverpool's" head coach Jurgen Klopp admitted that the team was somewhat lucky with a winning goal.
"After the goal, I remained quite calm because the situation was very unexpected. I saw the header and nothing else. I can't imagine how the ball crossed the goal line," - the strategist told "Sky Sports" television after the match.
"I wasn't happy to concede a goal, but I think something like that was needed. In the first half, we had fantastic moments and scored a wonderful goal. In the second half, we were too sleepy, we couldn't play our football. They changed their game, and we couldn't adapt to it.
After the "Spurs" goal, we started to play better, more opportunities appeared. We competed with the best team in the world ("Man City" - ed.) and played against one of the best on the planet ("Tottenham" - ed.). So, it's not an easy task. We are happy with the victory," - J. Klopp continued.
When asked about the title fight, J. Klopp added that the team has to fight with all their might: "City" was the champion of last year, which is still a great team. We have to fight as if we're crazy. The fans were unbelievable today. They motivated us and helped us not to give up until the last moment.
From these matches, we can only take positive things. I said there are 500 ways to win a match, and today they were not won in the most beautiful way, but who cares? I am glad that we won't have any breaks anymore. In the league competition for the first place, we compete with the best team in the world, and that is certainly not easy."
Until the end of the "Premier" league championship, the "Liverpool" team still has to play six matches.
