The team from the Spanish capital had the opportunity to become sole leaders of the league after a rather surprising failure of "Barcelona", but in less than two hours they themselves were severely burned against "Sevilla".
J. Lopetegui said after the match that what was agreed before the game was not being done on the field.
"Our plan was clear - we wanted to press them as close to their own goal as possible, but we didn't do that at all. It was obvious," - said the strategist.
"Sevilla" was amazing. They were like that because we allowed them to play like that. The first half was tragic, in the second half we played much better. We have to accept this deserved defeat and prepare for very important match on Saturday," - added J. Lopetegui.
Asked about Marcelo's injury, which forced Real Madrid to finish the match with ten players, J. Lopetegui replied: "It seems that he tore a muscle somewhere, but we still don't know exactly."
On Saturday, Real Madrid will host "Atletico" at home, the team from which they already suffered in the UEFA Super Cup this season.
