German national team coach Joachim Low revealed that the situation of Manuel Neuer looks good approaching the World Cup.
Despite not playing since September, the Bayern Munich goalkeeper was included in the preliminary national team squad.
The 32-year-old footballer may still appear in this season's German Cup final against Eintracht Frankfurt and in two friendly matches of the national team. This would be his full preparation for the most important tournament of the year.
"Neuer is training at full strength and we want to see him and evaluate him in the training camp," Low said.
"Both sides understand their responsibilities. At the end of the training camp, we will be open and honest, because without playing experience, you can't travel to the tournament."
"Still, everything looks good now. He is our captain and we hope that he will be able to travel to the tournament ready one hundred percent."
If Neuer ultimately couldn't travel to Russia, the Germans will finally turn to Borussia Dortmund's leader Marco Reus, who had to miss both the last European and World Cup due to injuries.
