"Manchester United" announced on Wednesday that long-time team player Juan Mata has signed a new contract with the club.
The new contract of the 31-year-old Spaniard will be valid until 2021, and the club will have the option to extend it for another season.
The old attacking midfielder's contract would have expired at the end of June, and the player's services were actively sought after by "Barcelona".
"It's a true honor to continue representing this amazing club and its great fans. I've been playing for "Manchester United" for five years now and I'm proud to call "Old Trafford" my home.
"I am ready to continue working with Ole and his amazing coaching staff," said J. Mata after signing the contract.
The Spaniard has been playing for "Man Utd" since 2014 and has played a total of 218 matches, scoring 45 goals.
