Still playing for "Valencia," defender Jeremy Mathieu is already sending compliments to potential employers.
In recent weeks, there have been a lot of rumors in the Spanish sports media that "Barcelona" is actively considering the possibility of acquiring the 29-year-old Frenchman.
The footballer's buyout clause is only 8 million euros, so this amount is not a problem for the Catalans. This is the amount they would have to pay if "Valencia" refuses to sell the player and negotiate. However, it seems that representatives from "Barcelona" and "Valencia" will sit down at the negotiating table, which means that J. Mathieu could be sold for a lower amount.
It is reported that negotiators from Catalonia have already contacted the player and informed him of the interest from the Spanish champions.
In an interview with the radio station "RAC 1," the player himself admitted that he would not hesitate to move to "Barcelona."
"When you receive an offer from such a team, it's impossible to say 'no.' The opportunity to play for 'Barca' might come only once in a lifetime. Who would refuse that?" the defender rhetorically asked.
J. Mathieu did not deny receiving an offer from the "Valencia" team to sign a new contract, but all discussions with his current club have hit a dead end when it became clear that the Frenchman was seriously interested in "Barcelona."
