J. Matipas ends his football career

Another player is ending his career, who represented Liverpool last season.

The local Gilzenkirchen newspaper reports that Joel Matip has decided to hang up his football boots.

The second-division Bundesliga team Schalke wanted to bring back the 33-year-old center-back, but he stated that he has finished his career, adds German media.

Since his youth, J. Matip spent 16 years at the Schalke club, followed by an 8-year stint with the Liverpool team.

With Liverpool, the Cameroonian fought for the Champions League title, the Premier League, two League Cups, the FA Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.
