"Liverpool" defender Joel Matip is likely to miss the remainder of this season due to a thigh injury. The Cameroon international sustained the injury in Saturday's clash with London's "Crystal Palace", which "the Reds" won 2-1. Although he managed to play the full 90 minutes, further tests revealed that the 26-year-old footballer will likely need surgery. This season, Matip has played 35 games with "Liverpool" and was expected to form a defensive partnership with Virgil van Dijk in the UEFA Champions League match against "Manchester City". However, "the Reds" manager Jurgen Klopp will now have to deal with this loss and find alternatives to stop the impressive attack of their opponents. Matip is set to be replaced by the often criticized Dejan Lovren or Ragnar Klavan.
