McAteer is convinced that Jurgen Klopp will lead the "Liverpool" team for another two seasons, and by 2021 the coach's seat will be vacant.
"Steven made a good decision starting his career at Rangers club. I wouldn't be surprised if in two years his coaching journey turns to Anfield," said the former footballer.
"I have a feeling that Gerrard will lead the Liverpool team in the 2021-22 season. I am convinced that Liverpool will win the Premier League this year and Jurgen will stay for another season to defend the title.
Regardless of whether he succeeds or not, I think he will leave the club and give way to Gerrard, who will have the opportunity to continue his work with this special group of players," McAteer added.
