Since this season, the video assistant referee (VAR) system used in the English Premier League has received quite a bit of criticism from both players and coaches.
Joining the VAR critics is Liverpool veteran James Milner, who is convinced that the new system ruins the atmosphere in football stadiums.
"I'm not a fan of VAR. Maybe it's because I'm a bit old-fashioned, but in my opinion, this system generates too many discussions.
The goal-line technology is great because the decision is made instantly and there are no questions left. It is quite difficult to use the VAR system because everything still depends on the interpretation of the rules, which ruins the atmosphere in the stadiums.
After a goal, the atmosphere in the stadium just explodes, but later it all depends on VAR and everyone is forced to wait," Milner told The Guardian.
