J. Mourinho defended J. Lopetegui over the decision of the Spanish Football Federation

Jose Mourinho met the new Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui for the first time in his career.

The first meeting was successful for the Portuguese - in a friendly match, Manchester United defeated the "white" team 2-1. Lopetegui's players dominated the game, but the English team took better advantage of the chances.

After the match at the press conference, Jose Mourinho was asked about J. Lopetegui, who had a tough experience this summer - after Real announced an agreement with the coach, the Spanish Football Federation decided to dismiss him from his duties as the national team coach just a few days before the start of the World Cup.

Talking about this situation, Mourinho added that in 2010 he made a similar decision like Lopetegui's.

"In 2010, working with Inter, I knew for a while that I would become the coach of Real Madrid, but that didn't stop me from winning the UEFA Champions League. The fact that I would become the coach of another team didn't make me any less professional for the club at that time," said the Portuguese.

Before heading to Madrid that season, Mourinho's Inter not only won the Champions League, but also the Italian Cup and the championship.
