J. Mourinho: I knew we were in trouble when P. Jones had to take a penalty

Jose Mourinho's problems at "Manchester United" continue - the "Red Devils" ended their performance in the English League Cup just as they started it.

In Tuesday's match, coached by Frank Lampard, "Derby County" eliminated the English football vice-champions after a penalty shootout. "Man Utd" played with ten men from the middle of the second half and the visitors were close to extending their victory without a penalty shootout.

"I told the players the same thing as in the last few matches. There is a feeling of confidence in the opponents' locker room and for that reason the game was open, they played really well," Mourinho said.

"We should have 'killed' the game after the first quick goal, but we didn't. We failed to dominate from the first minute of the second half, and then the equalizing goal came. Only after we conceded a goal did we start to play as I wanted from the beginning, but I don't like these kind of things.

"I would like to stay positive, but when you start to play your game only after conceding an equalizing goal and a red card, the situation is a bit more complicated.

After losing a player, we reacted really honorably - the group left on the field didn't want to lose and fought until the last minute.

"You always know in a penalty shootout that someone will still miss. When I saw that our seventh player to take a shot would be Jones and Bailly, I knew we would be in trouble again," Mourinho told reporters after the match.
