J. Mourinho: Rooney will remain the captain of "Man United"

"Manchester United" coach Jose Mourinho insists that, despite losing his place in the starting lineup, Wayne Rooney will retain the captain's armband.

The Englishman did not make it to the main eleven in the "Premier" league clash against "Leicester City," and in the UEFA Europa League match against Luhansk's "Zorya," he also started from the bench.

"Whatever happens, Wayne is the captain," Mourinho said.

"Whether he is on the pitch or not. He is my, the club's, and the players' captain."

"To be a captain is difficult for everyone. So, he has all respect and support. He is a member of Manchester United, a great professional. He wants to win and, of course, was happy when we scored a goal."

"He talks to other footballers and motivates them. In the locker room, he does the same thing he did a few weeks ago when he started the matches from the beginning. He is our man. He will score goals for us and work hard, so I have no doubts."

This season in the "Premier" league, Rooney played six matches, scored one goal, and made two assists.
