Jose Mourinho believed that Liverpool's victory against Manchester City possibly determined that the Premier League will have new champions this season.
The 3-1 victory by Liverpool extended their lead to 8 points over closest pursuers, and to 9 points ahead of Manchester City, who is the second most likely contender to win the title.
"From my point of view, the fight is over, unless something very dramatic happens in terms of injuries," Mourinho said in the Sky Sports studio.
"Liverpool have adapted to their players and there is no missing piece in this puzzle. Of course, Manchester City is capable of winning 7-9 matches in a row, but I just don't see Liverpool team giving away such an advantage," added the strategist.
Manchester City's chances have not dimmed during J. Mourinho's show, with Vincent Kompany, who claims that Liverpool will have an extremely tense evening.
"They have matches all over the world (referring to the FIFA Club World Cup)", said the former captain of City. "I think Manchester City will be in the fight until the end of the season."
Former Liverpool player Graeme Souness leaned more towards J. Mourinho's opinion: "What could go wrong? Unless it's just injuries to key players. Liverpool, to stay in their best form, must maintain that same energy. Injuries would definitely change the game. This period is crucial, injuries could become a problem in later stages of the season.
