Legendary Nigerian footballer John Obi Mikel has announced the end of his professional career.

The 35-year-old player has left his biggest mark at the Chelsea club, with whom he won all possible trophies in Europe: Champions League, Europa League, Premier League, League Cup, FA Cup, and Community Shield.

A particularly important role of the defensive midfielder was in the Champions League final match in 2012 against Bayern Munich. The "aristocrats" triumphed after 11 penalty kicks.

Often, John Obi Mikel's role in the former Chelsea team is underestimated, but he spent a total of 11 years at the club and was valuable to many coaches.

In 2013, John Obi Mikel won the Africa Cup of Nations with the Nigerian national team.
