According to former "Liverpool" star Jamie Redknapp, center-back Virgil van Dijk could still end up at the Merseyside club.
"The Reds" have already apologized for their not very successful attempts to acquire the "Southampton" player, but the completely different question is where the Dutchman himself wants to play.
The 26-year-old footballer's move to Liverpool would certainly seem logical, as the team has defensive issues but will play in the UEFA Champions League next season, and has already strengthened its attack.
"Liverpool have many different options in attack," Redknapp told Sky Sports. "However, I am still concerned about their defense, especially now that they will have to compete in the Champions League."
"I'm not sure if Virgil van Dijk's story is over. I still believe there is some action left in it," Redknapp continued. "Liverpool have clearly stepped back at the moment, but I still see Van Dijk as a potential signing. He wants to play in Jurgen Klopp's team and I wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool bought him."
"He could be one of the main summer signings, as he could change a lot. He has a huge impact. He is fantastic in defense, great going forward, he scores goals, and I think he is exactly what Liverpool needs," Redknapp added.
"If they can find a way to make him wear the red jersey next season, it would be a great purchase."
Van Dijk was considered one of the best defenders in the Premier League last season.
