James Rodriguez says he is not fully satisfied with his role at Madrid's Real, as he would like to play in a more attacking position.
The 23-year-old footballer shone during the World Cup when he played as a "forward," but upon joining the ranks of UEFA Champions League winners, where Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Gareth Bale also play, he is forced to settle for a role in midfield.
Rodriguez admitted that he would prefer to play a little closer to the opponents' goal, but said he is ready to compete wherever the team's coach needs him.
"It's true that I play a bit withdrawn in the Real Madrid team. When playing for Colombia, I can go forward a bit," said the former Monaco star.
"I hope to play where I feel best and help the team win. I feel more comfortable in the position I play for the Colombian national team because I like to be closer to the goal. In my case, it works perfectly. From that position, I can both score goals and make passes."
"However, as a footballer, I must be ready to play any role."
So far this season, James has been in great form and has scored 6 goals in 19 matches.
