57-year-old "Sevilla" coach Jorge Sampaoli denies rumors about ongoing negotiations with "Barcelona" and is ready to continue leading the Andalusian team.
Last summer, arriving at "Sevilla," J. Sampaoli had a very successful first half of the season, but the Europa League winners started to struggle - it is likely that the fight for the title in the Spanish championship will be abandoned and the Champions League quarterfinals performance ended.
"Barcelona" has already announced that Luis Enrique will step down from his role as head coach after the season. According to the media, J. Sampaoli is the main candidate to take over as this strategist.
"I don't have to renew my contract with 'Sevilla' because I still have it," said J. Sampaoli. "It is wrongly written in the press that 'Barcelona' is showing interest in me - there has been no contact."
J. Sampaoli hopes that one of the key members of the "Sevilla" club, sports director Monchi, will not leave the team this summer. The Spanish man, who brilliantly assembles the team, has one foot in Real Madrid.
"I would like Monchi to stay, but it is not one of my conditions that could be significant for my future here. In Seville, I feel loved, respected, and, most importantly, beneficial to the team," concluded the strategist.
