Former FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke has received a harsh punishment - he has been banned from football for 12 years.
It is suspected that the 55-year-old Frenchman personally profited from the sale of tickets for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
It is alleged that J. Valcke obstructed the investigation and attempted to get rid of important documents. According to the FIFA Ethics Committee, the Frenchman was caught deleting documents related to the case from his computer.
FIFA sought to have J. Valcke banned for nine years, but the Frenchman, who had been working in the largest football community since 2007, received an even harsher punishment.
