Former Real Madrid footballer and sports director Jorge Valdano believes that Zinedine Zidane acted heroically by agreeing to return to the "white" club.
Z. Zidane returned to the Madrid team after stepping away from the fight for all possible trophies. Z. Zidane also failed to revive the team in recent months, but big changes are expected this summer.
According to J. Valdano, Z. Zidane showed with this return that he is not worried about his reputation that he built during his first 2.5 years at Real Madrid.
"The image of the Madrid team has greatly diminished over these years," J. Valdano began the conversation. "I consider Zidane's return a heroic act on his part. He deserves a statue at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, which they intend to demolish for a shopping center, and other projects by Florentino Perez."
"This team needs changes, the club must actively participate in the player transfer window, where they practically did not play any role in recent years.
The club is seriously lagging behind in the work that should have been done earlier. Now they need to attract at least five or six famous players," J. Valdano said.
