The Japanese national team unexpectedly lost one of its key attacking players before crucial matches in the Asian Cup.

It was officially announced that Junya Ito, a forward for „Reims“, left the Japanese camp.

J. Ito is accused of sexual assault. He returned to France.

The 30-year-old Japanese played in the first two matches as a starter, in the third he came off the bench, and he already missed the quarterfinals.

The Japanese national team defeated Bahrain in the quarterfinals and will compete against Iran in the semifinals.
