Until the end of this season, they suspended the safety Joey Barton for hitting a teammate during training.
Last Tuesday, the latter had to go to the hospital to have a wound in his mouth treated after the incident at the "Carrington" training base.
Meanwhile, J.Barton's agent Willie McKay downplayed the situation in an interview with the BBC, but admitted that he had not yet spoken to his client.
"As far as I know, he was just defending himself, but because it's Joey, a huge bubble is immediately blown up.
"These things happen in training sessions all over the country, from 'Chelsea' to 'Yeovil'.
In the official statement from "Man City," the suspended footballer's name is not revealed, but it is almost certain that it is the scandal-prone J.Barton.
"We can confirm that one player has been suspended until an internal investigation is conducted. We will not comment further," - announced on the Manchester team's website.
This is far from the first time that the 24-year-old J.Barton has found himself at the center of scandal. Previously, at the request of head coach Stuart Pearce, he had to attend anger management courses after fights with a "Everton" youth supporter and a dispute with another team member Richard Dunne.
