After this season, the club that will have to withdraw from "Ligue 1" has a new coach - the Frenchman Jean-Pierre Papin.

As announced, the coach has signed a two-year contract with the club. The main goal of "Strasbourg" is to earn a ticket back to "Ligue 1" next season.

"Now I have to prove that the club did not make a mistake in choosing me," said Papin. "It is a real challenge for me, but I will do my best to make sure the team returns to 'Ligue 1' after a year."

However, Papin admitted that he needed some time to think everything over and only then accept this offer.

"The club representatives contacted me on Wednesday, but I needed 48 hours to think everything over and make a decision."

This season, "Strasbourg" has been among the bottom teams in "Ligue 1" from the very beginning and was unable to seriously fight for survival in the highest division of French football.
