"Borussia" Dortmund's strategist Jurgen Klopp claims that in order to defeat the Munich "Bayern" team, the team must demonstrate its best game.
In the German championship, the "yellow-blacks" are four points behind the leading Pep Guardiola's disciples.
The last time "Borussia" players defeated their main competitors in the Bundesliga was in 2010, and J.Klopp says that the team must show what they do best if they do not want the "Bayern" club to pull away.
"Our style of play can cause problems, but only if we demonstrate what we do best. Just running on the field is not enough," - J. Klopp spoke about the upcoming match against "Bayern".
"You cannot defeat such opponents alone because they are simply at a high level. Lately, they have been winning even matches where defeat seemed close. These are bad news for us, because even when 'Bayern' are in bad shape, they manage to achieve victories," - respectfully contemplated the specialist about the opponents.
"How to deal with this? We do not know, and I think no team knows. We have proven that 'Bayern' can be beaten, but playing against them is extremely difficult."
Lately, the "Borussia" team has been plagued by a series of injuries, so in the match against Bavarians, the entire main defensive line will not be able to help the team: Lukasz Piszczek, Neven Subotic, Mats Hummels, and Marcel Schmelzer.
On Wednesday, the "yellow-blacks" strengthened their ranks with the experienced 34-year-old defender Manuel Friedrich, and J. Klopp emphasized the importance of defense in such a match.
"If we carelessly look at any aspect of the game when opponents control the ball, we will be punished. I have no doubt that Guardiola has that in mind. The pressure of his coached 'Barcelona' teams was flawless. I think there were matches where the center-back Puyol wouldn't touch the ball because the attacking players would take it away from him earlier," - the German did not skimp on compliments to his opponent.
"There is an old saying that attackers win games, and defenders win championships. You cannot allow opponents to score many goals. This is not only bad in terms of result but also damages the team's confidence. It's like getting a hit on the thigh - then you walk uncomfortably and start stumbling," - J. Klopp concluded.
The clash between "Borussia" and "Bayern" players will take place on Saturday at 19:30 Lithuanian time.
