President Joan Laporta laughed off the Spanish press reports that Madrid became the new favorite to win the Spanish La Liga after their summer signings.
"Barcelona" had shown interest in Brazilian Julio Baptista before he moved to the royal club last weekend, but Laporta stated: "Madrid bought Baptista, but we have a great squad and we don't need anything. It will be very difficult to beat us. We have created a great sense of anticipation and strengthened ourselves like any championship team. We reinforced the weakest positions and kept the core of the team."
"We are not afraid, we are very happy with the team we have, which is championship caliber, and we will be hard to beat. We have a great goalkeeper, a good defense, good midfielders, and a good attack. I am confident that we will continue to enjoy victories," Laporta said.
