London's "Chelsea" manager Jose Mourinho revealed that during the summer he tried to persuade Luka Modrić to wear the "blue" jersey, but his efforts were in vain.
It is worth noting that the 28-year-old midfielder has played for Real Madrid, coached by the Portuguese.
"I personally called Modrić, but he refused to join Chelsea. I respect the player and his abilities on the field, but he will remain in Spain," Mourinho said.
Last season, the Croatian played 49 matches, scored two goals, and made eight assists.
