Jose Mourinho once again confirmed that he wants to see Bayern Munich's leader Michael Ballack in London next season. As the charismatic Portuguese claims, the team that has withdrawn from the Champions League is already awaiting the final answer from one of the best European midfielders.
This summer, 29-year-old M. Ballack's contract with Bayern ends, so rumors have been circulating for some time that clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, or Chelsea are interested in the midfielder. It seems that this time, the competition for the player's signature will be won by the money-spending billionaire Roman Abramovich's backed English champions.
"I want him in my team," J. Mourinho told a German newspaper. "M. Ballack said he needs time to decide, and I respect that. Now everything depends on him."
The English press, upon learning that M. Ballack could move to Chelsea, immediately speculated that the current leader of the London team, Frank Lampard, might have to find a new team. The same Barcelona team was mentioned as a possible destination.
However, J. Mourinho wants to see both midfielders in one club: "To me, M. Ballack is one of the best players in the world. He is very intelligent, tactically strong, and scores many goals. In my opinion, in Europe, only F. Lampard plays at his level. Both of them would make a dream pair."
Bayern officials have also accepted the fact that they will have to do without M. Ballack next season: "The talks about him are over," said Uli Hoeness. "We are preparing to live without him in our team."
