"We are beyond the first four. How can we still talk about the title? If you want to talk about the first place, you must be in the highest places. So, first we need to reduce the gap, get into the top four, and then we will see the difference," said the Portuguese.
"We knew that the potential of teams differs. Since the beginning of August, it was clear that finishing second last season was a fantastic achievement - now we are fighting for a place in the top four.
"We also have to play very difficult matches - away against Chelsea and Man City, and then it is simply impossible to win three matches in a row," Mourinho said.
